Why its important to provide proof of identity to your RTO

Providing Proof of Identity for Baking Industry Training Australia

Providing Proof of Identity to your training institution is a essential for many reasons related to compliance and funding. The Administration team at Baking Industry Training Australia (BITA) requires you provide proof of identity upon enrolment to ensure a smooth educational experience.

Evidence of citizenship for Federal funding

In accordance with the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), BITA is required to gather evidence of your citizenship for federal funding. ASQA is the national regulator for Australia’s vocational education and training sector, that ensures the integrity and quality of education delivered by training providers throughout the country.

In most cases providing a copy of your Medicare Card is sufficient, however in some cases you may need to supply an Australian Birth Certificate issued by Australian state or territory Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages or an Australian citizenship certificate issued by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection. A current Australian Passport will also suffice.

Proof of residency for Queensland state funding

Providing a copy of your Australian Drivers Licence with a current address on it is essential when enrolling at Baking Industry Training Australia. The Queensland Government provides a subsidy for a range of certificate III level vocational qualifications under the Certificate 3 Guarantee Program. To receive this subsidy, and a reduction on your course fees, you must prove that you are a Queensland resident.

Other uses for your proof of identity

When enrolling at BITA you need a Unique Student Identifier (USI) Number. If you don’t have one BITA can register one for you using your provided proof of identity. A USI is your individual education number for life, giving you a complete record of your VET enrolments and achievements in a single source. A USI is also required to receive your statement of attainment, qualification, or award from your training institution.
