Calling all BITA apprentices that make pies! It’s time to get your entry registered for the 35th OGAPC Apprentice Category (Official Great Aussie Pie Competition). This year’s pie flavour is Pepper Steak and you have until 19 August 2024 to register your entry.

Your pie should be a mince or chunky beef pie that includes pepper spices. A great recipe for this can be found on the EOI Bakery page of the Official Great Aussie Pie Competition website. You can also fine tips from OGAPC Chief Judge Mike French here.

The prize for the winner of the 2024 OGAPC Apprentice Category will recieve the Official Wall Plaque Trophy, a Certificate of Excellence, and a $500 voucher to spend on pie tins at Simple Simon Pie Tins. In addition all entrants will receive an Electronic Entry Kit containing tips for the competition and a free EOI promotional set.

The Aussie Pie Council has waived the entry fee for this category providing the apprentices employer has entered a major category in the competition. This means each apprentice employed by their business gains a single entry for the apprentice category. However entrants who choose to use the TNT freight service are encouraged to package their pies with their employers entry as freight is not included in the waiver.

OGAPC Apprentice Category Prizes for 2024

The pie flavour for this category changes each year and is announced when competition registration opens. Previous flavours have included plain meat pie flavour (2020) and poultry flavour (2021).

This a great opportunity for apprentices to receive feedback and recognition for their pie making talents. We encourage you to get your entries in for the OGAPC Apprentice Category as soon as possible.
